Venus Sings Because Girls Rock:
Closing Women’s History Month on Venus Sings Radio
Saturday, March 30, 2013

Here we are at the last weekend in March, signifying the near end of Women’s History Month. No need to get down, though, for every Saturday on WRIU you can hear “Voices of Women” from 9-11 AM. And once a month you can hear me producing the show – including tomorrow today!

On tomorrow’s today’s edition of “Venus Sings Radio on Voices of Women” I’ll be celebrating girls and women and the links between music, feminism and activism with Hilary Jones – Executive Director of Girls Rock! Rhode Island. Hilary will talk about these intersections as they are happening nationally, locally, and internationally, including through, though not limited to, her work with GRR! Be prepared to hear about Pussy Riot in Russia, the definition of “empowerment” and the benefits that girls and women (black, brown, white and everything in between) get from writing and playing rock music.
