SONIC SUNDAYS: A WRAP-UP POST AND RESOURCE LIST FROM THE MARCH 28 EDITION OF SONIC WATERMELONS

(PROVIDENCE, RI) – Around the country and here in RI, groups and advocates are fighting hard for or against marriage equality/access to marriage for the LGBTQ community. But is inconsistency in terms of marriage laws – and the absence of a federal guarantee – the only issue or obstacle facing these community members? And after the conversations and convictions around Steubenville, is the country cured of rape? Hardly, we see, as a new music single and lyrics from mainstream rapper Rick Ross demonstrate.

“When Marriage Isn’t Enough and When It Doesn’t Stop at Steubenville” was the subject of Sonic Watermelons this past Thursday, March 28, 2013. During the 10-11 PM live show, Andrea S., Jose R., Deejay Kellan, and me, Reza Rites (the show’s Creator, Director and Executive Producer) presented facts, opinions, and commentary from the community on the two topics. Below is a list of links to some of the articles, videos, and fact-sheets we shared during the show. Or click here to listen to the audio podcast from the show.
