9:00 – 11:00 AM
listen: 90.3 FM / http://www.wriu.org

Wrote a blog post for the Women’s Fund of RI, which came out yesterday. I’ve gotten some nice feedback so far, but I am wondering what my Tumblr friends think. Read it by clicking here; below is an excerpt.

As for #ThanksMiley, #SolidarityisforWhiteWomen, #WhyWhitePeopleRiot and #BlackPowerisforBlackMen, these are about people of color and women of color – particularly the Black Twitterati – being fed up.

“In the case of #ThanksMiley, this is about people being tired of cultural and historical storytellers misrepresenting and taking credit for the origins of art and political movements, aka cultural appropriation (or cultural misappropriation).”
